New Music USA Receives $495,000 from Rosin Fund
It’s an amazing thing when an organization fully understands the work you want to do and values and supports it. New Music USA is lucky to have so many wonderful funders who are wholeheartedly invested in our work with the field. That model of supportiveness is also what we strive for every day here at New Music USA – to support creators so they can realize their vision and share it with the public. It’s how we’ve structured our programs and why we’ve embarked on building something that connects artists and appreciators in new and exciting ways. We also recognize that we have a lot more to do if we are going to achieve our goals.
We are excited to announce that we are the recipients of a new three-year $495,000 grant from The Scherman Foundation’s Katharine S. and Axel G. Rosin Fund. This award, which is the first we have received from The Scherman Foundation, will enable us to support and promote a cohort of new music practitioners whose work is the heartbeat of new music today. We are so happy that The Scherman Foundation has chosen to put such a large amount of support toward the new music field. Amazingly, we are the first music organization to ever receive a Rosin Fund grant, and we hope we have started a trend!
We have a lot of work to do over the next couple of months to fully flesh out our program and then we will be delighted to share more about it with all of you. What we know for sure is that the program will distribute general operating and residency grants to smaller new music groups, many of which are artist-led, and use our web platform to link together and market this sector to audiences in new and creative ways. This opportunity begins here in NYC but it’s our goal to build a program that can become a model for our work in other communities across the US. We are so excited and we can’t wait to build this! We’ll have more to share about this soon, we promise.
