‘Bigger Than My Body’ – Color: heard and seen. Music and painting to defy the mortal limits of art.
John Mayer’s immortal words to ‘Bigger Than My Body’ speak the truth that artists are always “ready to burst,” and the feeling of all that pent-up energy inside of them is indescribable. There can be no empathy for the bursting artist. Even other artists around them can’t understand what it’s like to feel trapped inside the limits of their particular human form.
At the same time, our civilization continues to evolve in how we view beauty, both visually and aurally. There is an increasing and warranted demand to open our minds and hearts to the many varied identities of others around us. A vulnerable look at the momentary creative process of the artist and the relationship between colors, seen and heard, is needed.
Together with the artist Robyn Prezioso, Choral Chameleon invites its audiences into the inner sanctum of the process. Listeners will hear vivid color, line, shape, shade, and form in the works of Meredith Monk, Jocelyn Hagen, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Dominick DiOrio, and others, as this inspired artist paints on canvas a complete work from start to finish.
Stay after the concert to have a glass of wine, talk about your experience with us, and even have an opportunity to take the freshly painted canvas home with you! Join us for this heartfelt love-letter to artists everywhere.
