enSRQ has been actively monitoring the global outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). As you might have guessed, we have chosen to follow the Sarasota County and the City of Sarasota’s guidance and postpone our performance of Enter the Vortex scheduled for Monday, March 23 until next season.
In lieu of a live performance, we would like to offer a streamed performance in tribute to our friend, the late Charles Wuorinen (1938-2020), who passed away on March 11th. We were honored to present Wuorinen’s New York Notes in April of 2017 as part of our Inaugural Season and have chosen to share that performance via internet stream at 8pm on Monday, March 23, 2020. The performance rebroadcast will be preceded by a live streamed introduction and brief discussion of Wuorinen’s life and works. We hope you will join us! While necessity dictates keeping physical distance from one another, we hope this streamed performance will sustain your curiosity and inspire you to keep moving forward during these challenging times.
We are happy to credit your tickets toward a future performance or offer a refund of your purchase if you so choose. If you are able to, we strongly encourage ticket holders of Enter the Vortex to donate their tickets to enSRQ as a tax-deductible contribution to help carry us through to the other side (of the vortex). Your generosity will help enable us to continue curating innovative concerts well into the future. Please send an email to email@example.com to indicate your preference.
Please follow these links to subscribe to our pages on Facebook, Vimeo and Instagram. Once subscribed, please tune in to your site of choice at 8pm on Monday, March 23rd to join us for our performance!
We would be remiss if we failed to mention our esteemed musician colleagues who are deeply affected by this cancellation. It is vitally important to us that in spite of this situation, we will be fulfilling our financial obligations to those who were committed to performing on this program.
We look forward to a time when we can, once again, share a concert with you in person!

It’s past versus future as we Enter the Vortex with two of the twentieth-century’s most enigmatic masters. 2017 Van Cliburn Semi-Finalist Han Chen joins enSRQ and Co-Artistic Director George Nickson for Philippe Hurel’s virtuosic tribute, Tombeau to Gerard Grisey, an apropos preamble to our presentation of Grisey’s seminal evening length work, Vortex Temporum.
