Event Information

Join Mitchell Korn, Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music senior lecturer, for a lecture series that takes participants behind the scenes of Lucy Negro Redux. Korn will lead engaging discussions with the artists behind this world premiere, including Artistic Director Paul Vasterling and Poet Caroline Randall Williams. This series is perfect for ballet beginners or for those who want to build upon their dance education.

Lucy Negro Redux Lecture Schedule:
Tuesday, January 22, 1:30-3 p.m.
Thursday, January 24, 1:30-3 p.m.
Tuesday, January 29, 1:30-3 p.m.
Thursday, January 31, 1:30-3 p.m.

Each lecture will explore a different topic related to the production. Class will begin with an exclusive rehearsal viewing at 1:30 p.m. followed by the lecture from 2-3 p.m.

 Participants will:

  • Learn what it takes to create a brand-new ballet

  • Examine the literary influences that inspired this work

  • Explore the original score composed by Rhiannon Giddens

  • Get a sneak peek into the rehearsal process

  • Engage with artistic staff members and guests who have made this production possible
