PUBLIQ Access (PQA) creates new works by emerging composers living within the U.S. and promotes underrepresented music in the string quartet repertoire including non-notated, improvised, and electronic music. Composers selected through an application process receive a commission fee and participate in a year-long collaboration to develop a new work with PUBLIQuartet. This collaboration includes residencies, work-in-progress performances, and a high-profile debut performance. These works become central to the quartet’s repertoire and every PQ performance includes at least one PQA composition. PQ has performed these PQA works at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in our Carnegie Hall debut, on their debut album on CAG Records, and other world premieres in New York City, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. This concert will feature NYC premieres of works by PQA 2018 composers Jessica Meyer and Steven Snowden and a World Premiere by Xian Wang.
