Quartet Metadata presents four new works, two of them world premieres, in a program of highly individual string quartets: four very different idioms, four very different expressive worlds. The concert includes Valerie Coleman’s “Umoja,” Jeff Myers’ short quartets (world premiere), Lawrence Kramer’s “The Night Sky” (world premiere) and Matthew Welch’s String Quartet no. 2: Cumha Na Marbh – Requiem Aeternam Dona Eis (NYC premiere).
Dedicated to the music of now, Quartet Metadata is comprised of four talented and diverse string players–Lynn Bechtold and Hajnal Pivnick, violins; Carrie Frey, viola; and Jisoo Ok, cello–who have performed together with various groups in and near New York City since 2010. Their venues include the Concrete Timbre Series, SUNY/Fashion Institute of Technology, The Whitney Museum, Fordham University, and Yale University.
