Event Information

SPIRIT forms the first component of a 3-concert series focusing on the insight that behind every voice is a human being, comprised of spirit, body and mind.

Why do musicians boldly give their lives to this profession?
What happened in their stories that paved the road for them to be in front of you as a performer today?
What came before the here and now and how can all of that be heard in the sound?

In this unique program, the singers of Choral Chameleon’s 12-voice Ensemble have co-curated the music selection as a means of autobiography – each of them openly telling the personal story of their musical upbringing.

The singers’ personal choices include choral repertoire by Gesualdo, Maurice Duruflé, Ēriks Ešenvalds and Jake Runestad, along with beautiful arrangements of pop, a cappella, vocal jazz and musical theater – a program that is as chameleonic as our singers are.

Topping off the musical program are picks from Artistic Director Vince Peterson:
Edward Thompson – Effortlessly Love Flows – commissioned for this program
Edward Thompson – Blessed Be You (2017)
Dale Trumbore – I Am Music (2014)
