We invite you to join the [Switch~ Ensemble] for our flagship concert of the spring season—a night of works and premieres from four of today’s most vivid and imaginative early-career composers.
Advance tickets: $15 (adults) $10 (students/seniors). $20/15 at door.
Sivan Eldar: Tarr
Esaias Järnegard: Songs for Antonin (World Premiere)
Timothy McCormack: karst survey (US Premiere)
Adrien Trybucki: Infinite Extension (World Premiere)
[Switch~] brings two world-premiere commissions to life by the winners of our 2016-17 International Call for Scores: Adrien Trybucki (France) and Esaias Järnegard (Sweden). Both works incorporate multimedia/electronics to craft the unique sonic worlds that have brought Trybucki and Järnegard prominent recognition in both Europe and the US.
karst survey, another [Switch~] commission, saw its World Premiere in Spain, and we are proud to bring this work of stunning gravity home to NYC. This US Premiere is an exciting chance to hear McCormack’s work, recently honored with the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Composers Prize 2018.
[Switch~] gave the west coast premiere of Sivan Eldar’s Tarr in 2017 in San Francisco, and the ensemble fell in love with its stark yet tender lyricism. Eldar, based in Paris and NYC, frequently works with electroacoustic media, but Tarr’s poetic landscape is tonight’s only purely acoustic work.
