This concert brings new music, new animation, science, and hula together to educate the young students of Oahu about the endangered forest birds of Hawaii. Previously only open to grades 4-12 kids of Oahu, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra is now performing the six movement work for the general public in this “Ohana” Concert on Nov. 14 at 7pm. Music composed by Michael-Thomas Foumai, Daniel Houglum, Takuma Itoh, Jon Magnussen, Thomas Osborne, and Donald Womack. Animation created by Kayla Abalos, Jamie Allen, Jeanine Higa, Laura Margulies, Pawel Nuckowski, and Laurie Sumiye. Each movement was created in consultation with scientists of US Fish and Wildlife Service, University of Hawaii, and the Bishop Museum.
