The Dessoff Choirs presents a varied program of compelling choral works, with a special spotlight on two masters of choral repertoire whose impact is felt on both sides of the Atlantic: Gregg Smith‘s The Continental Harmonist, based on compositions by early American composer, William Billings, and John Rutter, whose The Sprig of Thyme offers a selection of traditional songs of the British Isles. In addition, Malcolm Merriweather steps off the podium to sing works composed by Margaret Bonds and Florence Price. This is a chance to hear a live performance of two of Bonds’ compositions that were featured on the album – Margaret Bonds: The Ballad of the Brown King & Selected Songs.
