Wet Ink’s Festival of Adventurous Music for Large Ensemble at St. Peter’s Church, Chelsea on June 12 & 13 brings together the contemporary music virtuosos of the Wet Ink Large Ensemble for 2 evenings of rarely heard, ambitious work by composers from around the world. In addition to the concerts, Wet Ink will host the 2nd Annual Large Ensemble Readings Project on June 14, featuring open workshops and documentation of 3 new works by composer participants Vicente Hansen Atria, Victoria Cheah & Andrew Harlan (free and open to the public!).

The first concert on June 12 features Sam Pluta’s dynamic “Portraits / Self Portraits” for violin and ensemble (Josh Modney, violin) and Catherine Lamb’s meditative “Parallaxis Forma” for voice and ensemble (Kate Soper, voice) alongside Tim Parkinson’s “Ensemble 13”.

The June 13 program features a selection from Wet Ink’s 1st Annual Large Ensemble Readings, young Polish composer Mikolaj Laskowski’s “Oh Zoroaster” for piano and ensemble (Laura Barger, Piano), alongside works by the Wet Ink composers – the NYC premieres of Alex Mincek’s “Cadeau” and Kate Soper’s “The Ultimate Poem is Abstract” (this performance supported by a BMI Foundation Jeffery Cotton Award), and Eric Wubbels’s “Auditory Scene Analysis, Part I”.

The Large Ensemble Readings on June 14th offers the opportunity for 3 composers to have new pieces workshopped and documented by the Wet Ink Large Ensemble in an intensely focused, constructive and friendly environment. The sessions allow for a look into the creative process in a casual setting, and are free and open to the public!
