Event Information

Led by the members of the BMI jazz composer’s workshop, Tracy Yang, Meg Okura, and Jen Allen will bring together a 17-piece jazz orchestra, plus solo violin, for one set of original compositions with some of the best musicians.

About the composers:

Taiwanese-born composer and pianist, Tracy Yang was awarded both the winner and honorable mention of SWOJO’s 6th annual composition contest for women composers and was also part of the 2019 Young Composer Showcase selectees from JEN. (https://yangyuchen217.com/my-music)

A native of Tokyo, Meg Okura is an award-winning jazz violinist, composer, and leader of the Pan Asian Chamber Jazz Ensemble. She is the latest winner of the Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works Grant and has recently returned to Kennedy Center to present her works with Pan Asian Chamber Jazz Ensemble. Composer and pianist, Jen Clark Allen, has released three albums of original music and published an award-winning jazz piano method book. In addition to performing with small and large groups under her leadership, Jen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Trinity College and Bennington College. (https://www.jenallenmusic.com/)
