Aaron SeveriniNew York City, NY
Currently the recipient of a New Music USA Project Grant, Aaron Severini’s journey to a life in music grew out of a career dancing professionally for the New York City Ballet (NYCB). Mr. Severini’s passion for composing—first for choreographers and dance companies—quickly expanded to include music for concert, film, television, and new media. Following his career with NYCB, he was accepted into The Juilliard School where he received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in composition. Premieres include Catch performed by three-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn and pianist Cory Smythe at Davies Symphony Hall (CA), Sleet performed by the Juilliard Orchestra under the direction of Jeffrey Milarsky at Alice Tully Hally (NYC), String Quartet performed by Han Shi, Sissi Yuqing Zhang, Jeremy Kienbaum, and Kevin Mills at 92nd Street Y (NYC), Curios performed by pianist Robert Fleitz at The Music Gallery, Steinway & Sons (FL), and The Monarch performed by pianists Steven Beck and Stephen Gosling at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater (NYC).
Mr. Severini collaborates regularly with choreographers and has composed original scores for the New York City Ballet, Satellite Collective, the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, The Juilliard School, and the New York Choreographic Institute. His music for filmmakers and videographers includes works for PBS documentaries, iPad/iPhone applications, and promotional campaigns for Cartier, Squarespace, UNICEF, the New York City Ballet, and others. Mr. Severini’s latest score for Satellite Collective’s theatrical production, Echo & Narcissus, will premiere on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the BAM Fishman Space, Brooklyn, NY.
