Brass Band Northwest

Bellevue, WA

Brass Band Northwest combines the lush, rich tone typical of a string orchestra with the incisive rhythm of a jazz band to create emotional and exciting music. Our concerts are both serious and fun, family friendly but not watered down. Come, hear the excitement.

We are an ensemble of brass and percussion musicians from the greater Seattle area who keep an active performing schedule. In addition to our annual concert series at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, we perform for a variety of other presenters, including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Institute, Leavenworth Christmas Lighting Festival, Yarrow Point’s Independence Day Celebration, Pioneer Days in Tacoma, Seattle Mariners games, West Sound Entertainment in Bremerton and the Downtown Association in Seattle.

Brass Band Northwest hosts the Northwest Brass Festival in collaboration with Seattle Pacific University and Common Tone Arts. As part of the festival we have performed with brass artists of international stature such as Allen Vizzutti, Patrick Sheridan, Jens Lindemann, Scott Hartman, and Deanna Swoboda among many others.

Brass Band Northwest strives to promote new music and music composed by women and minorities. In the past seasons we have premiered works by Jeffrey Taylor, David Johnson, Elena Ruehr, Bradley Hawkins, Alex Shapiro, and Kurt Leland. We can be heard on several CDs including Sparks Fly, Top to Bottom, Live 1, and Deck the Halls.

Brass Band Northwest is an ensemble-in-residence at Bellevue Presbyterian Church.
