My Awarded Projects
Hailed as a “…new music mecca…” by the New York Times, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music is America’s foremost festival for contemporary symphonic music. Its mission is to provide living composers the means they need to create the future of the art form, give audiences access to the creative process, and provide mentorship and support for the next generation of conductors and composers. In 2014 the Cabrillo Festival was named “one of the top five incubators of new music in the world” by New York’s WQXR radio, and Music Director Marin Alsop was awarded the “Champion of New Music” Award by the American Composers Forum. Founded in 1963 by composer Lou Harrison and collaborators, Cabrillo Festival is winner of the League of American Orchestras and ASCAP’s John S. Edwards Award for Strongest Commitment to new American music. 2016 will mark Alsop’s 25th anniversary and her final season as Music Director/Conductor.
