Cameron PatrickTorrance, CA
Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, Cameron Patrick is a graduate of the University of Queensland where he completed a Bachelor of Music in violin performance and did extensive thesis work on the subject of film scoring. After leaving UQ, he played with both the Queensland Symphony and Queensland Theatre Orchestras, as well as being founding leader of the Camerata of St. John’s Chamber Orchestra and the Patrick String Quartet. Keen to explore his passion for film scoring, he moved to the United States in 1988 to further his studies in composing, orchestrating and arranging, and entered the University of Southern California’s Advanced Studies Certificate Program: “Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television.” He graduated the following year and went on to complete ASCAP’s Film Scoring Workshop in 1991.
Today, Cameron is active as a free-lance violinist and violist in the Los Angeles film, television and record industries, having played under such film scoring greats as Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Michael Giacchino, Alan Silvestri, David Newman, Lee Holdridge and John Scott.
He has also carved out a career as a composer and arranger. Cameron’s recent concert works include “Musings” for solo viola, written for his partner of 21 years, American violist Darrin McCann, who premiered the piece in February 2008 at a Montgomery Arts House For Music & Architecture Chamber Music Series concert in Malibu, California; and “Impressions of Erin,” a commission from the Camerata of. St. John’s Chamber Orchestra, who premiered the piece in December 2012 at the Queensland Conservatorium Theatre in Brisbane, Australia. His film and television credits include the score for “Damaged Goods,” a short film that made up part of the Australian anthology film “The Turning” in 2013, four seasons of “The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries” for Warner Bros. Television Animation, Dreamworks’ “Toonsylvania” and Disney Television Animation’s “Quack Pack.” He has contributed music to the Warner Bros. feature films “Looney Tunes: Back In Action,” “Tom & Jerry: The Magic Ring,” and “Tweety’s High Flying Adventure,” as well as scoring six Chuck Jones animated shorts: “Chariots Of Fur,” “Another Froggy Evening,” “Superior Duck,” “From Hare To Eternity,” “Pullet Surprise” and “Father of the Bird,” four of which were released theatrically by Warner Bros.
As an orchestrator, Cameron’s credits include “Star Trek Into Darkness” and “Super 8” for Paramount; “Toy Story Of Terror,” “Cars 2” and “Up” for Pixar; “Land Of The Lost” for Universal; “Jupiter Ascending,” “Bugs Bunny On Broadway,” “Freakazoid,” “Pinky And The Brain,” “Animaniacs,” “Batman: The Animated Series,” and “Tiny Toon Adventures” for Warner Bros.; “John Carter,” “Piglet’s Big Movie,” “Hunchback Of Notre Dame 2,” “Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas,” “Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin,” “Aladdin: Prince of Thieves” and “Gargoyles” for Disney; and “Invasion America” for Dreamworks Television Animation.
He is also a published arranger, with an anthology of movie themes for String Quartet and String Orchestra released by Alfred Publishing in 2010.
