Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Inc.
Katonah, NYLocated on a 90-acre campus in Katonah, New York, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit arts center that has been in continuous operation since 1946. As an organization, Caramoor is adept at curating, marketing, and producing excellent and diverse music programs for the public. It presents approximately 55 concerts annually in a wide range of genres to people from throughout the tri-state area. Best known for its Summer Season, Caramoor also presents chamber music year-round, trains the next generation of classical musicians, and provides arts education to local schoolchildren. Through its public programs and community events, Caramoor serves 40,000 people annually.
Highlights of Caramoor’s 2019 Summer Season
Caramoor presented a variety of top-notch music this summer, ranging from cutting-edge compositions to the finest in period-instrument early music, and from orchestral and chamber masterpieces to jazz, roots, and world music. Highlights of the summer included a spotlight on the music of Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw plus music from 14 other living composers, including regional premieres; and a rare opportunity to hear peerless French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard perform Messiaen’s complete Catalogue d’oiseaux.
