Composers, Inc.

Berkeley, CA

Founded in 1984 with the mission to present music by living Americans, Composers, Inc. is today a leader in new music in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide. The six Artistic Directors Robert Greenberg, Frank La Rocca, Ryan Rey, Martin Rokeach, Allen Shearer, and Nicholas Vasallo curate an annual season of three or four concerts, and also judge the prestigious Suzanne and Lee Ettelson Composer’s Award, which each year offers two prizes carrying a cash award as well as a performance on the Composers, Inc. series. A student outreach program offers low-priced tickets to young listeners, and the annual !BAMM! [Bay Area Modern Music] concert brings together composers and ensembles from the area in a festival atmosphere.  Composers, Inc. is supported in part by the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation, the Bernard Osher Foundation, and generous individuals who give selflessly for the cause of new music.
