Morton Feldman’s Rothko Chapel ; Pt. 1
MUSIC FOR ROTHKO, a concert presented by DACAMERA, Sarah Rothenberg, artistic director, to commemorate the Rothko Chapel’s 40th Anniversary, February 26, 2011. Kim Kashkashian, viola; Brian Del Signore, percussion; Sarah Rothenberg, celeste; Maureen Broy Papovich, soprano and the Houston Chamber Choir conducted by its Artistic Director, Robert Simpson.
Feldman’s Rothko was commissioned by the de Menils and inspired by the composer’s visit to the Chapel in 197l. Feldman was close to major figures in the arts and was friends with Mark Rothko.

Commissioned by DACAMERA, the world premiere was held February 24, 2013 in the Rothko Chapel as part of DACAMERA’s 25th Anniversary Season.
