My Awarded Projects
Dancers' GroupSan Francisco, CA
Dancers’ Group promotes the visibility and viability of dance.
As an artist-run, artist-centered organization, Dancers’ Group designs its programs and services to meet the varying needs of artists as they create and produce new work.
We serve San Francisco Bay Area artists, the dance community and audiences through programs and services that are as collaborative and innovative as the creative process itself.
Dancers’ Group’s ONSITE program commissions artists to create large-scale, site-specific dance performances, that we present free-of-charge to the public in highly visible locations throughout San Francisco.
The next ONSITE commission will be with choreographer and inkBoat director Shinichi Iova-Koga on the creation of a site-specific dance performance that honors iconic Bay Area choreographer Anna Halprin. To premiere when Ms. Halprin turns 95 years old, 95 Rituals, will wrestle with both structural and conceptual issues germane to referencing, departing from, and paying homage to an artist whose body of work spans a seven-decade period of time during which there have been monumental cultural and societal shifts. The work will premiere June-July, 2015.
