Dalia Chin

Chicago, IL      

Dalia Chin is a Costa Rican flutist currently living in Chicago. Chin can be seen performing in Chicago and out of it as an individual artist and with the ensemble Fonema Consort of which she is a founding member.


As an individual artist, Chin is often commissioning, collaborating and premiering pieces by new music composers. This led her to curate her last project “in the same breath” for which she earned the DCASE individual artist program grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.


Chin’s participation in the new music field has allowed her to tour in and out of the USA including new music festivals and projects focused on this repertoire. Most recently Chin was part of New Music Miami Festival, Visiones Sonoras in Morelia and Mexico DF, Interfaz festival in Monterrey, Chihuahua International Festival, Omaha Under the Radar New Music Festival, Florida Flute Convention 2014 and previously she was invited to perform as a soloist in the Costa Rican premiere of Pablo Santiago Chin’s flute concerto In the form of a shell with the Symphony Orchestra of Heredia.


In Chicago, Chin has been part of the Chicago Composers Orchestra since 2012 and the Chicago Folks Operetta for the last two seasons. As an educator, Chin teaches at DePaul University’s Community Division, the Music House and Near North Montessori.  She has also participated in workshops and residencies at Columbia College, Saint Xavier University and North Central College.
Chin Graduated from DePaul University, Florida State University and University of Costa Rica. Dalia studied with Mary Stolper, Eva Amsler and Maria Luisa Meneses. In addition she has had masterclasses with Robert Dick, Christopher Krueger, Alberto Almarza, Hernan Jara, Walfrid Kujala.
