Dustin Soiseth

Conductor Dustin Soiseth is the cofounder of the Loose Filter Project, an arts think tank focused on creating wider cultural engagement for concert music and musicians by bringing attention to substantial, notable music and ideas via informative and entertaining podcasts, writing, and concert events. Past Loose Filter projects have included collaborations with composers Jonathan Newman and Mason Bates.

Most recently Dustin stepped in on short notice to conduct Edwin Roxburgh’s How Pleasant To Know Mr. Lear with SF-based Curious Flights. From 2007-2010 Dustin was an adjunct faculty member at California State University Stanislaus, where he conducted the symphony orchestra, opera, and new music ensemble, as well as taught courses on topics ranging from world music to orchestration. He has degrees from CSU Stanislaus and the Meadows School at SMU, were he studied orchestral conducting with Paul Phillips. Dustin also writes about the Bay Area new music scene for NewMusicBox, and has served as a cover conductor for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He lives in Oakland.
