Earsight Duo is a creative duo that pairs Peter Ferry’s daring percussion with Xuan’s virtuosic video art. Together, they create programs that unite music and visuals with extraordinary skill, humor, and sophistication.
First prize winners of the 2015 Savvy Musician In Action Chamber Competition, their Spring 2017 includes a residency at the Chicago High School for the Arts, a residency at Mana Contemporary’s High Concept Labs, and a visit to Carnegie Mellon University.
Previous season highlights include a residency at The University of South Carolina, a featured showcase at the Chamber Music America Conference at (Le) Poisson Rouge, a short residency at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art, and opening for GRAMMY Award-winning sextet eighth blackbird at the Indie Grits Film Festival.
Earsight Duo’s current touring show, Long Distance, takes Steven Snowden’s hacking-inspired work as a point of departure. Enlisting the audience as co-experiments, together they challenge expectations of a classical performance, and subvert boundaries between musician and artist, performer and audience.
Founded at the Eastman School of Music in 2010, Earsight Duo grew out of Peter Ferry and Xuan’s shared impulses to experiment with music and film. After conservatory rehearsals and avant-garde film courses, they found time together to create artistic projects of their own imaginations.
“Long Distance” teaser – Earsight Duo
