Jesse Greenberg is a Queens-based composer, percussionist and educator, interested in the relationships between rhythm, notation, and improvisation.
His trio, Zamler-Carhart/Rauh/Greenberg, has toured throughout Europe, and has been featured in Les Troubadours chantent l’art roman (southern France), Voices of Poetry (Cornelia St. Cafe), and Composers Now (DiMenna Center). He is mallet percussionist and composer-in-residence for the fifteen-piece new-music/hip-hop collective ShoutHouse, and has recently composed for Mahagonny Ensemble, Call and Response, Eric Lamb, and Moran Katz, receiving the Jean Slater Edson Prize for his wind trio, Phantasmagoria (2013). Jesse performs percussion for the reggae-soul group, Little Shaman, and for various improvisational recording projects.
