Inner City EnsemblePaterson, NJ
The Inner City Ensemble provides free, high-quality arts training to under-served youth in Paterson, NJ, and low-cost specials events and performances, locally and regionally; identifies, nurtures and compensates pre-professional teenagers, who work alongside alumni and professional guest artists; preserves the legacy of Ralph Gomez, who founded the organization in 1973; and, supports the work of Artistic Director, Nicholas Rodriguez. Since 2016, Rodriguez and the Company have developed two new full-length works that address cultural identity, immigration and social justice and reform issues.
Where Have You Gone, Trayvon?
On February 15, 2018, the Inner City Ensemble performed “Where Have You Gone, Trayvon?”at William Paterson University, NJ after a winter residency and rehearsals for the WP Presents… series. The dance-theater work uses original text and choreography by Nicholas Rodriguez to address social justice and reform issues related to policing and racism. Featuring dancers from Rosa L. Parks Performing Arts High School, Passaic County Technical Institute, and William Paterson University.
