Pathos TrioNew York, NY
Committed to the performance of engaging contemporary music, Pathos Trio (whom consist of pianist/composer Alan Hankers and percussionists Marcelina Suchocka and Felix Reyes) aims to bring raw, edgy, and powerful music to audiences through the presentation of cross-genre collaborations.
Each ensemble member comes from various classical/new music backgrounds and when brought together and integrated into a single unit create a dynamic force to be reckoned with. Whether performing with major orchestras across the U.S., composing internationally for new music ensembles, or creating exciting collaborative chamber music projects with musicians across New York City, each member in combination brings these strengths to the table.
Together through their interests in dark, heavy, progressive music, strong training and backgrounds in classical/contemporary chamber music, and special chemistry in collaborating with one another, Pathos Trio dedicates themselves to the discovery, creation, and performance of new music that blends these ideas together.
Distance Between Places – Alan Hankers
Distance Between Places was inspired by the relationship between the soundscape of a particular place and memory. Much of the work is comprised of individual musical streams that are independent in terms of rhythm, timbre, and expressive shape, but still, allow for an overall blending that results in a unified sonic picture.
Similar to the amalgamation of independent sounds that one might associate with a busy city, these layers are too complex for us to recollect precisely, but we can bring to mind an abstraction of what we remember.
