I am an Italian-American film composer who shares a strong passion for the world of art. In my childhood, I would express my creativity through fine arts, music and filmmaking until I later realized that music was my true inspiration as I had felt it become my lifelong purpose.
I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance and Music Composition from The Catholic University of America, Benjamin T. Rome School of Music in Washington D.C. There, I studied cello with Robert Newkirk, string pedagogy with Jody Gatwood, and composition with Dr. Helmut Braunlich. As a cellist, I’ve played with several orchestras including the Georgetown Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Southern Maryland, and the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra, which I co-founded and played as principal cellist. I recently completed the renowned Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television graduate program at the University of Southern California where I studied with composers Christopher Young, Bruce Broughton, Jack Smalley, Patrick Kirst and many others.
I have scored music for a number of independent short films and promotional films for various companies and organizations including Sodexo, The Smithsonian, Maryland Therapeutic Riding and the Historic Annapolis Foundation. Some of my work received “Best Score” at film festivals in Maryland and “Best Film” at the Miami 48 Hour Festival, which was later selected for the Cannes Film Festival. More recently, I had written over 60 minutes of music for a film by the Herblock Foundation on the life and work of famous political cartoonist, Herbert Block.
My approach to film composition is to create simplistic, yet powerful and emotional musical ideas that fit the drama and character of the film. I particularly enjoy true life stories that are meaningful and offer insight and a revitalizing message. I love the collaborative and creative process of filmmaking on all levels and I am eager to work with filmmakers who are looking to make their stories memorable and compelling. Music meshed with film can infuse such an array of emotions within an audience and to be able to help create these emotions is absolutely thrilling for me!
