Hannah Jane Boissonneault is a composer-performer currently based in East Lansing, Michigan. Through her work as a composer, bassist and vocalist of the progressive alternative band Blank Slate, and the recent launch of her studio and live classical/indie folk project Feels Like Honey, Hannah strives to create music that explores the color and texture of her experiences. Incorporating her experience in writing and performing progressive metal, indie, folk, and jazz, she seeks to interconnect various musical communities through her compositions. She is an alumni of the 2019 Atlantic Music Festival (Waterville, MN) and the 2019 Fresh Inc. Festival (Kenosha, WI). She has participated in reading sessions with members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and upcoming with Roomful of Teeth in January of 2020. Hannah is completing her B.M. in Composition at Michigan State University, where her primary mentors are David Biedenbender and Zhou Tian.
Feels Like Honey
Feels Like Honey is a multi-genre, studio and live collaboration between contemporary classical, rock, and jazz musicians communicated through compositions by Hannah Jane Boissonneault. Feels Like Honey aims to encourage the intersection of artistic communities.
Michigan-based alternative band Blank Slate (2016-present) creates progressive music that portrays the melodic qualities of post-rock while engaging in between the sound realms of ambient and post-rock. Since their formation in 2016, they have performed alongside numerous acts in the progressive community, including Silent Planet, Sianvar, and Strawberry Girls. Since their recent rebranding, they have released three singles, “Figures,” “Dedicate,” and “Verified.”
