Impulse New Music FestivalSanta Barbara, CA
The Impulse New Music Festival is an intensive 2-week residency and training program for early-career composers and performers of new music. Festival musicians work together to create, realize and document their work; each new piece is recorded by the INMF Chamber Ensemble in the studio and premiered at a festival concert. Under the guidance of world-class faculty and new-music specialists, INMF participants hone their craft through coaching, mentorship, seminars, and workshops, supplemented by evening lectures designed to address the realities and strategies of making a career in the arts. The result is a one-of-a-kind, hands-on experience in making new art at the highest level
INMF is a 501(c) Non-Profit Organization committed to breaking down the socio-economic barriers of classical music education in order to promote more diverse and distinct voices in contemporary music. To address one aspect, we are working towards a tuition-free model for all composition and performance program participants.
