Irene (Discos) DerosLos Angeles, CA
A native Montrealer raised in New York City’s underground art scene, Discos is the expression of a unique set of ideas and realities through movement. Exploring dance and choreography, the multi-faceted Discos skillfully blends into many creative environments. Having learned her techniques at Peridance Capezio Center and Dance New Amsterdam in New York City, Discos honed her skills in underground dance styles such as Vogue, and Waacking in the city’s night clubs. Collaborations with artists such as KINEMATIK Dance Company, House of Dangerkat, and the 9-piece psychedelic orchestra The Crystal Ark followed on international stages and venues ranging from Sydney’s Opera House, New York’s MOMA PS1, Washington DC’s Hirshhorn Museum to Jérôme Bel’s critically-acclaimed run of The Show Must Go On, in Vienna. Expressing her need to share experiences fusing music, dance and fashion, Discos has taught in Sydney, Vienna, Los Angeles and Montreal, always aiming to push boundaries and develop the inner self through dance, movement, fashion styling and creative direction. Currently living in Los Angeles, she continues to grow through creative collaborations with like-minded artists in Los Angeles, Montreal, New York and Berlin.
