Justin SherburnAustin, TX
Justin Sherburn is a composer, producer, and musical director based in Austin, Texas. His most recent scores for the films “Above All Else” and “Yakona” premiered at the SXSW film festival in the spring of 2014 and continue to show at festivals across the nation. His music can be heard on PBS programming and appears regularly on Austin radio station KUT. Justin has composed for television, theater, and dance performances and is the resident composer for Austin’s Troublepuppet Theater Company. His sextet “Montopolis” performs live scores to silent films. Justin arranged the “Sanctus” Movement of Mozart’s Requiem for the Golden Hornet Project’s presentation “Mozart Undead” in Spring 2014. He has had a long and varied career as a touring musician, working with Austin bands Okkervil River and the 8 1/2 Souvenirs, sharing the stage with legends such as Willie Nelson, Roky Erickson, Brian Setzer and Wilco, appearing on the David Letterman, Conan Obrien, and Jimmy Fallon television shows, and performing at festivals around the globe from Coachella to Primavera Sound in Barcelona to the Laneway Festival in Australia. He currently records and performs with Okkervil River, Ethan Azarian, and Glovertango, a traditional Argentine tango ensemble.
Justin writes, arranges, and records at his home studio in Montopolis, Texas. He received a BA in English from the University of Texas in 2003.

April – Composed/ produced music for Troublepuppet Theater’s “Wars of Heaven” featuring Austin Symphony Orchestra assistant principal cellist Sara Nelson and the grammy award winning Convergence vocal ensemble – conducted by Brent Baldwin of the Texas Choral Consort.
March – Performed at “Lobel Arts” South by Southwest Festival “Austin Composers” showcase.
Performed new work: “The Return of Draw Egan: a Tribute to Ennio Morricone” received Austin Community Initiative Grant for two multimedia performances on March 1 and March 8, sold out 300 cap venue “The North Door”

Toured Europe, Australia, and US with Okkervil River.
Completed orchestral arrangement commissioned by Golden Hornet Project for “Mozart Undead” concert in March, a re-orchestration of Mozart’s “Requiem”.
Performed at Blanton Art Museum’s “Beat the Rush” series in August with Montopolis string trio.
Completed two feature length documentary film soundtracks that premiered at SXSW 2014, “Above All Else” and “Yakona”.
Composed and produced music for TroublePuppet Theater Company’s “Crapstall Street Boys” in January and “Hyde and Jekyl” in November.
Composed and produced soundtracks for 12 episodes on Austin based professional website “The Mental Health Channel”, a work for hire commission by production company “Arcos Films”.
Licensed “The Umbrella Waltz” from “The Red Balloon Soundtrack” to the Austin Public Library for use on their website.
Performed regularly in Austin with sextet Montopolis, Glovertango, The Ascots, solo piano gigs, and cover band “The Motts”.
