3RD MOVEMENT OF ‘THREE INTERRUPTIONS VIA PIANO’

This is actually the second response to, or development of, a piece originally written for a 61-key keyboard as I had no immediate access to a real piano at the time the first interruption was written. Also, it is clearly composed by a drummer as it is more concerned about color, punctuation and rhythm than pianistic technicality. A love of tango shows itself as well and the notation states for the pianist to immediately close the piano and leave stage directly after the last notes are hit, waiting for no decay or inevitable standing ovation.

L’Amour Est Un Oiseau Fou

I happen to have the suite to Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ and Berio’s ‘Sequenza III’ on vinyl and two non-professional turntables; it just came together. Other than that, it is what I find to be a simple construct of music: the recognition of the old and the new(er) and an artist’s response to both while utilizing the tools at hand.

I Think I’m Turning Balinese

I, like so many others, fell in love with Gamelan music when I first heard it and I tried many times in my own occidental ways to mimic it. I stumbled onto this attempt while running a glockenspiel through a few FX processors triggered by an expression-pedal and improvising over a small theme.
