Kathryn SchulmeisterSan Diego, CA
Hawaii-born bassist Kathryn Schulmeister is currently living in San Diego, USA. She is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Contemporary Music Performance at the University of California, San Diego. With an adventeruous curiosity for collaborative environments, Kathryn’s enthusiasm for seeking opportunities to integrate improvisation, movement and theatre into her creative practice have led her to thrive as an active performer in festivals and venues around the world. Kathryn was nominated for a 2020 GRAMMY® Music Award as a collaborating artist with Soprano Susan Narucki for her album of Kurtág’s music, The Edge of Silence. Currently she is a member of the Australian ELISION Ensemble.
