Martin Rowe

I’m the author of three nonfiction works and a novel. I’m the co-founder of Lantern Books and the co-vice president of the Culture & Animals Foundation. I am working with composer Mihoko Suzuki on And the Hummingbird Says . . . , a song-cycle exploring the life and work of the Kenyan environmentalist and 2004 Nobel Peace laureate, Professor Wangari Maathai. The work is being undertaken with the support of Panta Rhea, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and Brighter Green, a non-profit New York–based public policy action tank that works to raise awareness of and encourage policy action on issues that span the environment, animals, and sustainability.

And the Hummingbird Says . . .

This five-part song-cycle by Mihoko Suzuki (with words by myself) about the late Kenyan environmental activist Wangari Maathai is now available for preorder/download (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/and-the-hummingbird-says-africa/x/229472#/), and tickets are for sale at Symphony Space for a one-time performance on October 21st at 1:45 (https://www.symphonyspace.org/event/9697/Music/compassion-arts-and-culture-animals-festival?spektrix_bounce=true).
