Marcus Marshall was born on November of 1983 in Washington, D.C. At an early age he showed a great interest in music. He started out singing in an elementary school choir, also wrote poetry. He later decided to start writing music and pick up an instrument. Poetry soon begun to turn into rap and R&B songs. He continued his music by writing, performing, and setting up his agenda to kick start his career in music.
This sparked a whole new interest in music for Marcus. This was the science of audio and recording arts. After a few years of recording with and mastering different Digital Audio Workstations and Virtual Instruments, Marcus knew he wanted to do this as a career. After High School he attended Omega Studio’s School of applied Recording Arts and Science where he obtained certifications in Audio Production to help him further his career in a highly technical and constantly growing field.
He collaborated with many artists and produced a few records of his own. With his past experience and new knowledge he gained by attending Omega he became one of the D.C. areas best Media Engineers in Studio, Live, and Broadcast. One of the first gigs he landed right out of school was with super producer Chucky Thompson at Time Machine Studios in Accokeek, MD. This inspired him greatly. Doing work for an industry professional whose work has been heard by billions changed his thoughts about the industry. He learned many new skills that would help him become better at his craft. He also saw the truth of the industry and learned many things not do to stay above water and stay in good standing with people.
With him living and breathing music he needed to get even closer to it. He took a risk by leaving his full-time job and working for a local music store to get closer to other musicians and entertainment professionals. This would be a great move for him to be able to network without much effort.
He would later start his company M.E.C. Productions, LLC that has been in the works since early in 1999. Marcus freelanced for studios, churches, artist, labels, and concert venues such as: Studio 8121, Atlantic Coast Studios, Hollywood East, Matrax Productions, Klick City Records, Drastic Sound Labs, Mad Jam Recording Studios, Miss Icon, Night Flight Studios, B Digi Studios, 855 Music Group, Studio 202, Blis.fm and many more.
Marcus continues to produce, record, mix, teach music, and audio technology through M.E.C. Productions, LLC. He helps people/companies build and/or maintain their recording studios, live sound, and broadcast systems. He currently works for Discovery Communications, LLC as a Project Manger/Digital Media Engineer where he designs studios, and manages upgrades in all Discovery owned facilities and Networks.
