Oh My EarsPhoenix, AZ
Oh My Ears (OME) is a non-profit new music presenting organization in Phoenix, AZ. Founded in 2014 by composer and flutist Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer, OME seeks to connect emerging composers, ensembles, and musicians with each other and with the greater Phoenix community. We provide opportunities for local musicians and composers by organizing performances both independently and in conjunction with other arts and community-oriented organizations. OME’s primary programming focus is to facilitate the performance and creation of “experiential music.” We bring music to places where it is unexpected, and unexpected music to expected places. We take music out of traditional concert settings and into art galleries, bars, and nature preserves. We collaborate with dancers, slam poets, and multi-sensory performers.
Oh My Ears grew from the “Oh my god, my body, my ears!” annual multi-hour marathon concert, which began in February 2014. In 2018, we expanded this event to into the 4-day OME New Music Festival. Held in multiple downtown Phoenix venues, the OME New Music Festival is an annual event where we invite emerging ensembles, solo artists, and projects from around the country to perform new works by emerging and established composers. This year’s festival will take place Jan 31 – Feb 3.
