Music Mondays offers nine free, high-caliber, innovative concerts of contemporary and traditional small ensemble music to the Upper West Side of Manhattan every year.  Our mission is to provide top quality performances in innovative programs, attract a diverse audience, expand the audience’s horizon to include contemporary music, and foster young talent.   All concerts are followed by a free reception.

In the Tempest: Music of Thomas Adès

Music Mondays presented a program of music by Thomas Adès on November 5, 2012, with the composer present to speak about his music. This video shows not only the performance but also shots of the church where the series takes place.

Nico Muhly: Beaming Music

On December 9, 2013, Music Mondays presented a program of Nico Muhly’s music for small ensemble. Here the Claremont Trio (Emily Bruskin, violin; Julia Bruskin, cello; Andrea Lam, piano) performs the New York premiere of Muhly’s “Common Ground,” commissioned for the Claremont Trio.

Nico Muhly: Beaming Music

On December 9, 2013, Music Mondays presented a program of Nico Muhly’s music for small ensemble. Here soprano Jennifer Zetlan, who starred in Muhly’s opera “Two Boys” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, joins the Lark Quartet and pianist Aaron Wunsch for a performance of his recent song cycle, “Far Away Songs,” set to poetry by C. P. Cavafy.
