Nashville Ballet’s mission is to create, perform, teach and promote dance as an essential and inspiring element of our community. Fulfilling this mission is realized in three ways: (1) Presenting a varied repertoire of classical and contemporary works, (2) Offering ballet and dance training for all ages and abilities through the School of Nashville Ballet, and (3) Bringing Community Engagement Programming to schools, libraries, parks and community centers throughout Middle Tennessee.
Nashville Ballet’s season performance repertory is deeply collaborative with the musical talent in Nashville, Tennessee. The Company performs the classics such as “Swan Lake” in partnership with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra as well as original works in partnership with ALIAS Chamber Ensemble and local singer-songwriters. These transformative productions reach more than 40,000 Middle Tennesseans every year.
School of Nashville Ballet is a nationally known leader in classical ballet training and top-of-mind locally for recreational dancing with more than 1,000 students enrolled annually. With students ranging from two years old to seniors and a new Young Men’s Scholarship Program, School of Nashville Ballet is proud to be training the dancers and art patrons of tomorrow.
Nashville Ballet’s Community Engagement Programs permeate the community and reach more than 30,000 underserved children, youth and adults in 14 counties and 46 zip codes across Tennessee each year. Stemming from the belief that the arts are a right, not a privilege, Community Engagement initiatives break down barriers like financial limitations and geographic location that often prevent people from experiencing the arts.
