Percussionist/Composer, NATE TUCKER, is an active performer. He was recently featured in American Repertory Theater’s (ART’s) The Tempest as on stage musician performing in a 4 piece band of all Tom Waits music. Also at the ART, he performed in Finding Neverland, music by Elliot Kennedy and Gary Barlow. He can be heard with the world-renowned contemporary music ensemble, Juventas, as core percussionist, as well as pop and world music groups with Flamenco Boston. Advocating new music in Boston, Mr. Tucker can be found performing pieces for percussion and electronics as well as composing them. Mr. Tucker’s most recent compositions include A 2012 Drumset Odyssey for electronics and drum set and Ambient Memory, electronic music for multimedia dance performance (choreographed by Peter Dimuro; commissioned and set at the Boston Conservatory).
Exploring acousmatic music in relation to percussion and pop music Mr. Tucker released the album ALTEREGO in 2014, self produced and published under Off Grid Records. After release, Mr. Tucker was commissioned to compose the entire score for Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing with The Boston Theater Company.
When not performing or composing, Nate Tucker can be seen as a dance/theater accompanist, music educator, and clinician, having worked at schools around the world ranging from musicians of the highest caliber at Interlochen and Amsterdam Conservatory to dozens of local intercity school children around the New England area, through Boston Ballet’s Music in Motion, Adaptive Dance, and CityDance programs.
