Odeya NiniLos Angeles, CA
Odeya Nini is a Los Angeles based contemporary vocalist and composer. Originally from both New York and Israel, she holds a BFA in vocal performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, and an MFA in Composition from California Institute of the Arts. Her work is devoted to redefining vocal performance and song through an exploration of extended vocal techniques, expression, and sounds of the physical body’s language. She has collaborated extensively with dancers, visual and video artists as both a composer and improvisor, including Meredith Monk, Butch Morris and LA’s contemporary orchestra – Wild Up.
Odeya’s work has been presented at venues and festivals across the US and internationally, such as the Whitney Museum of Art, the Hammer Museum, REDCAT, Joyce Soho, Art Basel
Miami from Los Angeles to Tel Aviv, Canada, Odessa, Mongolia and Vietnam. She has lectured as a guest artist on contemporary vocal techniques, leads workshops on voice and movement and most recently was a composer in residence at the Banff Centre in Canada.
Her debut album Vougheauxyice (Voice), for solo voice, was released in April of 2014.
