Phil LoweryOakland, CA
Phil Lowery (stage director), holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Theatre from Lewis & Clark College, and a Master of Arts in Dramatic Arts from the University of California at Berkeley. He has been active in San Francisco Bay area theatre and small and mid-sized opera since the early 1990s, most often as stage director, but also frequently as stage manager, production manager or performer with companies such Berkeley Opera, Berkeley Contemporary Opera, Lamplighters Music Theatre, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, North Bay Opera, Pocket Opera, and San Francisco Parlor opera.
Phil relishes the opportunity to explore new works. With Berkeley Contemporary Opera, he directed the U.S. Premiere of Jorge Liderman’s Antigona Furiosa and produced the world premiere of Martin Hermann’s The Scarlet Letter. In the early spring of 2015, he looks forward to presenting the world premiere of Middlemarch in Spring, by Allen Shearer, on a libretto by Claudia Stevens, after George Eliot’s novel.
