Saori Tsukada

Described as a “charismatic mover with astounding precision”, Saori Tsukada harnesses her ability in theater, dance, in between and beyond.

As a generative performer, she has worked with a wide range of artists including choreographer Yoshiko Chuma, Catherine Galasso, playwright/director Aya Ogawa, composer Joe Diebes, and video artist Katja Loher. Her acclaimed duet performance series with composer/theater artist John Moran has toured extensively in Europe, for which she was nominated for Best Actress at Dublin Fringe Festival.

Her favorite venues in NYC include BAM, Roulette, LaMaMa, Kitchen and Japan Society. Most recently she appeared in Pig Iron Theater Company’s SUPERTERRANEAN (Philadelphia Fringe Festival), and Joseph Keckler’s LET ME DIE (Opera Philadelphia).

With film/theatre-maker Nikki Appino, she has co-created and starred in Club Diamond (Sundance Theater-Makers Residency, Sundance Theatre Lab at Mass Moca, Under the Radar Festival, Days & Nights Festival, Colgate University, Asia Society in Houston), and is currently developing a companion piece called ARCHIVIST.

She is also working with Aya Ogawa on an adaptation of Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Tsukada is an alum of Public Theatre’s Device Theatre Working Group.
