Scott Killian is a composer and sound designer who has established himself as awell-known collaborative artist in the theatre and dance worlds. As a composer for theatre, Mr. Killian’s has become a major artist in the Berkshire arts scene. Since 1997, he has served as Resident Composer and Sound Designer for the Berkshire Theatre Festival where his work has been heard in over thirty productions. On New York stages, Mr. Killian has composed and designed sound scores for productions at the Manhattan Theatre Club (Lucille Lortel Award nomination), Red Bull Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theatre, MCC, The Acting Company and the Juilliard Conservatory Theatre. Major regional theatre venues include Shakespeare and Company, The Shakespeare Theatre (DC), A.C.T. of San Francisco, Cleveland Playhouse, The Huntington Theatre, Seattle Rep., Center Stage, George Street Playhouse, The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Westport Country Playhouse, and major productions at Canada’s Theatre Calgary and The Vancouver Playhouse.
His extensive work for contemporary dance includes scores for The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Hubbard Street Dance-Chicago, The Jose Limon Dance Company and the Nikolais/Louis Dance Company. He has composed music for the dances of many choreographers, including Cherylyn Lavagnino, Shapiro and Smith, Zvi Gotheiner, Susan Marshall, Johannes Wieland, Ralph Lemon, Bebe Miller and David Dorfman. In addition to his work as a composer, he has served on the dance faculties of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and The American Dance Festival.
