Sophia Stoller

Sophia Stoller is a choreographer, dancer, dance educator, and video editor based in Los Angeles, CA. Sophia has shown choreography in festivals and venues locally and internationally, including REDCAT, Electric Lodge, Highways, ShowBox L.A.’s Anatomy Riot, the Fowler Museum, SoCal Dance Invitational, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s Nizozot Showcase, and Bootleg Theater. She has additionally choreographed a number of projects for the camera, including the short narrative film You and the Moth, Jarell Perry’s music video, Relapse, and Sony’s IFA Berlin 2016 presentation. She was a featured artist in the 2016 Megastar Promo, and her film Elegant Decay placed in the top 5 of the beta competition. Sophia spent ten months living in Israel from 2010-2011, dancing full time in an apprenticeship program with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, where she studied and performed KCDC repertoire, as well as the repertoire of Batsheva Dance Company, Inbal Pinto, Vertigo Dance Company, Cullberg Ballet, and Barak Marshall Dance Theatre. In Southern California, Sophia has performed with Nickerson-Rossi Dance, Union Project Dance Company, and Soul Lab Dance Project. She participated in the HOTHOUSE Choreographic Residency in 2015, was a recipient of the PDG Space Grant in 2016, and was one of three choreographers selected to be part of the 2017 Cohan Collective residency. Sophia currently teaches Contemporary and Modern technique, Composition, and Creative Movement at Gabriella Charter School, Mar Vista Elementary, and Petite Feet Dance.She holds an MFA in Choreography from California Institute of the Arts, anda BA in World Arts and Cultures/Dance and a BA in Psychology from UCLA.
