The Evolution Of The ArmBuffalo, NY
The Evolution of the Arm (Megan Kyle, oboe; Evan Courtin, violin; Katie Weissman, cello; and Michael McNeill, piano) performs both composed and improvised music, as well as music that blurs the boundaries between both of those worlds, drawing from its members’ interests and experiences in classical music, jazz, free improvisation, theater, and art rock music. A foundational principle of The Evolution of the Arm is that we only perform music written by our members. Over the past two seasons, we have collaboratively developed a set of pieces that are specific to our quartet’s unique personality, creating performances that run the gamut from wild, high-energy improvisations to delicate, precise notated works while maintaining a cohesive thread of ensemble identity.
EPK for our 2018 mini-tour, featuring clips from our debut performance in November 2017.
