The Industry

Los Angeles, CA

The Industry creates ambitious world premiere productions that expand the traditional definition of opera, merging artistic disciplines and building new paradigms for collaboration. The Industry aims to engage a wide demographic and cultivate curiosity through the unexpected audience experience.

Founded by director Yuval Sharon in 2011, The Industry has already met with phenomenal success with its first two productions–Anne LeBaron’s Crescent City and Christopher Cerrone’s Invisible Cities–and its workshop of new operas-in-progress, First Take. Mark Swed in the Los Angeles Times has called The Industry "venturesome and groundbreaking: The Industry is quickly and dramatically making itself an essential component to American opera, and is indispensable to the LA scene."
