Theresa Wong

Theresa Wong is a composer, cellist and vocalist actively exploring the intersection where music meets with the creative spirit of experimentation, song forms, improvisation and the synergy of multiple disciplines. Her  works include The Unlearning, 21 songs inspired by Goya’s Disasters of War etchings (Tzadik 2011) which premiered with visual projections by Daria Martin and Mao Mollona at Roulette in Brooklyn in December 2013, and O Sleep, an improvised opera she directed exploring the conundrum of sleep and dream life performed at Southern Exposure in San Francisco. Wong has been commissioned by Splinter Reeds quintet, Vajra Voices vocal ensemble and Del Sol string quartet and collaborates with many singular artists, including Fred Frith, Ellen Fullman, Luciano Chessa, Chris Brown, Carla Kihlstedt, conceptual artist Jonathon Keats and dance pioneer Anna Halprin. She has presented her music internationally at such venues as Fondation Cartier in Paris, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, Fabbrica Europa in Florence Italy, Cafe Oto in London, Unlimited 21 Festival in Wels, Austria and at The Stone in New York City. Wong is currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
