‘Smoke Lines’ is a monumental step for DRIGGproductions as a company. By producing this show we will propel ourselves forward and expand our vision with new choreography, original music, and most importantly community engagement and new audience reach. DRIGGproductions has been creating short cinema and appearing in festivals through out New York and New Jersey, since 2013 where we started as two dreamers creating movement in a tiny NYC apartment.
Your support will not only make this show possible, but it will give us the kick start we need for sustainability and to reach future goals as a company. Please consider making a donation in support of all artists involved in DRIGGproductions. No amount is too small $5 – $500 means the world to us, for it shows that you believe!

Getting down to the nitty gritty.
DRIGGproductions will collaborate with composer Margel TheSophant in the creation of three new works to be premiered this summer. Two of these works will comprise a 25 minute suite entitled ‘Smoke Lines’ (also working title for the show) for live dance performance, while the third – ‘FACADE’ will be a video performance. These works will be premiered in Jersey City on August 29th as part of DRIGGproductions’ season opener. This show will run two nights at Nimbus Dance Works and serve as the companys’ first evening length performance. Dancers will be accompanied by live music performed by Margel ‘theSophant’.
Smoke Lines will explore relationships through the lense of what it means to be “honest”. In the initial research of this piece, the essential thought is that there are these transparent boundaries that we avoid ; the parts of ourselves we conceal…- Why?
DRIGGproductions Co-Artistic Directors Khadija Ahmaddiya & Mark Caserta will work with company dancers and composer Margel ‘theSophant’ to explore these fields of intimacy and self recognition through a 4 month residency at Nimbus Dance Works. This residency will be composed of rehearsals and open community workshops . With in these workshops, members of the Jersey City community will be actively engaged in the creation of ‘Smoke Lines’ through improvisation, discussions and informal showings.
‘FACADE’ is a piece musing on modern culture, hidden identity, and the loss of self-referral. In the fall of 2014 DRIGGproductions premiered ‘FACADE’ in New York City at the Ailey CitiGroup Theatre. This spring we will take elements of that piece to create a new video performance. Margel ‘theSophant’ will compose music to this new work.
- ‘Smoke Lines’ and ‘FACADE’ will be the first orginal score composed solely for DRIGGproductions’ repertoire.
- It is imperative to the growth of DRIGGproductions to have original and (when available) live music. This will aid in solidifying our artistic presence.
- The creation of ‘Smoke Lines’ will develop a meaningful artistic relationship with DRIGGproductions and composer Margel’theSophant’.
- Artist of DRIGGproductions will be freshly energized and inspired by new music and new material. This creative process will further the artistic advancement of Margel ‘theSophant’ and DRIGGproductions.
- ‘Smoke Lines’ will help collaborators reach new audiences by bringing awareness of the project to their fan base.
- Workshops will strenthen theses artists’ relationship to the Jersey City community through meaningful sessions of creation & feedback. Workshop participants will engage in exploration, personal discoveries & share invaluable experiences with the artists of ‘Smoke Lines’.
- ‘Smoke Lines’ and ‘FACADE’ will bring new levels of recognition to DRIGGproductions and Margel ‘theSophant; attracting more presenting opportunties as collaborators and individuals.
At DRIGGproductions, we seek to promote discussion of artistic and humanistic relevance. With in our choreography and artistic approach we strive to produce work that embodies the connection between physical and spiritual truth.
Margel ‘theSophant’ is a classically trained musician; while his current music style falls into catergories of Hip Hop/R&B/Electronic/Rock & Jazz.
This dynamic collaboration creates a vast opportunity to explore new artistic territory as we begin to unveil our own truths, clearing the “Smoke Lines”.
